Me again.... I want to export an outline to an RTF file. Do I just save it and change the file type, or is  "exporting" more complicated than that?

Hi Dave,

to export your PowerPoint presentation to a Rich Text File (RTF) perform the following:

  1. Open the PowerPoint presentation you want to convert to RTF.

  2. Click on the "File" menu, select "Open" and locate the file on your computer. Double-click to open the presentation.

  3. (In PowerPoint 2007 and PowerPoint 2010, use the "Office" button instead of the "File" menu.)

  4. Click on the "Outline" tab on the left side of the screen. The Outline is the text that will be converted.

  5. Click on the "File" menu and select "Save as."

  6. (In PowerPoint 2007 and PowerPoint 2010, click on the "Office" button, select "Save as" and select "Other formats" from the sub-menu.)/li]
  7. Click on the "Save as type" drop down arrow at the bottom of the "Save as" window.

  8. Scroll through the list and select the "Outline/RTF (*.rtf)" option and click on the "Save" button.

Your PowerPoint presentation is now saved in the RTF file format, which can be opened with any word processing program like Microsoft Word or Open Office or Notepad.
