When I apply a custom chart template design to my PowerPoint 2007 presentation it crashes! Can anyone help me with this?

Welcome back Trippy,

if you are running Windows Vista with PowerPoint 2007 or Windows 7 with PowerPoint 2007, or if you have closed Excel 2007 before you apply the custom chart template to your PowerPoint presentation then Microsoft Office will crash and shut down and tell you:

Microsoft Office program has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

There is a workaround :

Firstly, open the chart's data source in Excel 2007
Select the chart.
Under Chart Tools, click the Design tab.
Click Edit Data in the Data group to open the data source in Excel 2007.
In the Type group of the 2007 Office program, click Change Chart Type.
In the Change Chart Type dialog box, click Templates, select the custom chart template that you want to apply, and then click OK.

Your PowerPoint 2007 presentation will now be fine.
