Greetings,

Hopefully someone can help. I've got PowerPoint work to do, and have been given a previous project to work from. However, when I go to the Slide and Title Masters, there are multiples of each, identified as Slide Master 7 layers, Title Master-title plus subtitle, etc., etc., etc. It's a scrolling list of master slides (I don't know how to tell which are Slide and which are Title masters) that totals 16.

How do I determine, when making a new slide, which master slide is controlling the new slide I make?

I know how to make new Slide and Title Masters (I only have the choice of making Title Masters on this particular project), but with pages and pages of masters, I'm more than a little lost.

Using a hugely powerful Mac (8-core 2.4GHz), PowerPoint 2011 for Mac and coincidentally, a previously created presentation from Adobe.

If I'm confusing Master Pages, Slide Designs, and Templates, feel free to set me straight.
