Whenever I add a fill colour to a textbox and I think other things in powerpoint it defaults to green. 4 times out of ten I want to add a white fill and 5 times out of ten no fill. I have my default textbox having no fill but when I go to change this, the first choice I am give is green. I almost NEVER want a green fill. Is there anyway to change this default first choice colour to white?

Hey Tim,
welcome to the PowerPoint Forum.

Actually, you'll be happy to hear that this is a very simply problem to solve.

You can change the Defsult Settings of your Fill by simply creating a text box on a blank slide.

It will probably fill with green as you indicate the current Default Fill color is set to green and perform the following steps:

  1. Right mouse-click the text box.

  2. Select Format Shape.

  3. Select No Fill and then click the Close button.

  4. Right mouse-click the text box again.

  5. Select Set as Default Text Box.

And that's it. From now on when you add a text box it will not have a green fill but will be transparent on a white background.

If you want to set the default color to white then instead of selecting No Fill in step 3, simply select Solid Fill and then select white from the color palette.
