I really need some pointers and advice in creating a wedding speech at my daughters wedding.

I know I need to be first to speak so there's a huge expectation and if I try a joke or to add humour and it doesn't work then I am probably going to ruin my daughter's day.

We are not a "stuffy" family but we are quite affluent and as this is my first child's wedding both my wife and I are trying to pull out all the stops to spare no expense.

I did consider hiring a professional speech writer but I am worried that my daughter will know that it is not "me" speaking and I know that it would mean so much to her if I write the speech myself only I am not sure where to begin.

I understand that you guys work with presentations and speeches all the time so rather than writing the speech for me, could you perhaps offer any tips or pointers to get me started?

With thanks for your consideration.

Joe
