Hey!

So ok, I've downloaded and installed the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio Trial Edition but nothing is showing up in PowerPoint. At least nothing like your screenshots: http://www.123ppt.com/video-backgrounds-studio/screenshots.asp.

So what's up? Where is the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio?

Hi Marty and welcome to the 123PPT Community!

If you have downloaded and installed the Free 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio Trial Edition, the installation wizards takes you through the installation process until completion where you are then asked to restart your machine in order for your system to be finalize installation settings.

When you restart your computer and open PowerPoint you should indeed see the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio in PowerPoint. Depending on your version of PowerPoint the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio will be displayed either in the Office Ribbon, or as a Toolbar.

If you are not able to access the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio or the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio does not appear in your PowerPoint menu, please close PowerPoint and open the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio Troubleshooter.

You can open the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio Troubleshooter by pressing your Windows Start button and navigating to:

Windows Start > All Programs > 123PPT > 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio > Troubleshooter

The 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio Troubleshooter will attempt to correct any possible conflicts in your installation or Windows system registry if they exist and prevent your application from running.

Ok admin, I've run the Troubleshooter but still no sign of the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio in PowerPoint. Is there anything else that could be wrong?

It may well be that the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio is disabled on your machine. This can happen on occasion if you are running multiple versions of PowerPoint on your computer.

The 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio works with all versions of PowerPoint on your machine, but your system registry has to assign an "active" installation of PowerPoint on your machine and it is to this version that the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio will initially be associated with.

Are you running multiple versions of PowerPoint on your machine Marty?

Yes I am admin. I'm running Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 and PowerPoint 2010.

I'm running them both because I really like and have just gotten so used to running PowerPoint 2003, but we had to install PowerPoint 2010 because our IT department installs it as standard on all computers in our office.

Ok Marty, I thought it had to be dual installation of PowerPoint on your machine as anything else the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Troubleshooter would have automatically identified and corrected the conflict for you.

I am assuming that PowerPoint 2003 is your default (active) PowerPoint application. By active Marty, I mean when you double mouse-click a PowerPoint presentation does it open in PowerPoint 2003 or PowerPoint 2010 normally?

Yes admin. When I open a ppt file or a PowerPoint presentation it opens in PowerPoint 2003 normally not in PowerPoint 2010. Only pptx files open automatically in PowerPoint 2010.

PPTX files are the newer PowerPoint presentation file extension Marty which are read and opened by PowerPoint 2007 and PowerPoint 2010.

What's important is to know the active user of PowerPoint in your system registry and this appears to be PowerPoint 2003 since when you double mouse-click a PowerPoint presentation or ppt file it opens normally in PowerPoint 2003.

In PowerPoint 2003, you'll find the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio is visible and accessible to you.

To enable the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio in PowerPoint 2010:
  • Open PowerPoint 2010.
  • Select Options from the File main menu.
  • Select Add-Ins from the PowerPoint Options dialog window.
  • At the bottom of the PowerPoint Options dialog window is a pull down menu item called COM Add-Ins. Select Disabled Items from the pull down menu and press the Go... button.
  • Check the checkbox beside 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio for MS PowerPoint 2007 - 2010 and press OK.
  • Close the PowerPoint Options dialog window and then close PowerPoint 2010.
  • Open PowerPoint 2010 and select 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio from the main menu you will now see the 123PPT Video Backgrounds Studio in the PowerPoint 2010 Office ribbon.
