Ok here is my problem with powerpoint 2007. Its a trial version .. for now. I completed making a presentation on my laptop and saved it. Then I saved it onto my memory stick and transported my work to college. The college pc's would not open it. "unable to open this type of file' or some nonsence. I emailed the presentation to my coworker and she just emailed me that HER pc would not open it either. I don't get it. Why wouldnt other versions of the Same program open this presentation??? The presentation is due on weds...so time is ticking!!

Does anyone know what I can do? It doesn't make sence that the version should make a differance in opening a powerpoint presentation. Surely someone here has the knowledge to share???

Hi Joanne,

jepp...can understand your frustration here.

Basically PowerPoint 2007 now saves its files in a new format called PPTX, or .pptx

Only Office PowerPoint 2007 can read this format. PowerPoint 2003, 2002, 2000, etc., used a format called PPT, or .ppt.

So if you have sent a presentation made in PowerPoint 2007 to someone who does not also have PowerPoint 2007 there's no way they can open it unless you resave the presentation as the older file type of .ppt under the Save As options.

Good luck with your presentation Joanne, and let us know if you are still having problems opening the presentation on other machines that are running PowerPoint 2007.
