Hello:
I was very surprised to have been selected as godfather to the daughter of a couple that my wife and I are not very, very close with. Though I am flattered and honored, I am concerned about the speech that I am to give at the reception. Because there isn't a long and deep relationship with the parents, writing the speech has become quite difficult. I am somewhat religious (Roman Catholic), and would like to include some reference to the sacrament as a welcoming into the Christian community, but would like to focus mostly on the role that I will play as a godfather. Can you supply some guidance, or some creative suggestions, as to how I can compose this speech, considering the circumstances?
Thank you. |
